Summary
Draw zones around assets to group and track specific areas or sub-projects visually using Oriyent’s GIS-based Collections feature.
Keywords

Overview
Collections let you group assets by drawing custom boundaries directly in the Map View. This is ideal for breaking projects into manageable sections like terminals, runways, or building zones and tracking progress for each area independently.
This guide walks you through how to create, name, and manage collections for visual sub-project oversight.
What You’ll Need
A project with assets imported and geolocated on the map
At least one assigned form per asset (recommended for tracking)
Access to the Map View
Creating a Collection
Go to the Map tab
Click “Create Collection” (or Draw Area)
Use your cursor to draw a shape around the group of assets
Enter a name for the collection (e.g., Runway Lights – West)
Click Save
The area is now grouped and displayed as a collection boundary on the map.
Using Collections for Tracking
Once created, each collection:
Displays total and percentage-based form progress for the grouped assets
Updates dynamically as forms are completed
Can be clicked to view assigned templates and asset data
Can be renamed or deleted if needed
Collections are especially useful for reporting by zones, progress stages, or construction lots.
Managing Collections
To edit or remove a collection:
Click on the collection zone in the Map View
Use the menu (⋮) to rename or delete
You can redraw or create multiple collections as needed
A single asset can belong to multiple collections (if zones overlap)
Consider naming conventions like Zone A – Electrical or Apron Edge Lights – Phase 2 to help stakeholders quickly identify scope areas.
What Happens Next?
After creating collections:
You can filter or search form progress by collection
Project managers can view zone-based progress without needing to review individual forms
Visual reporting becomes simpler and more intuitive for stakeholders
Troubleshooting Tips
Issue | Solution |
Collection doesn’t save | Ensure a valid shape is drawn and a name is entered |
Progress shows 0% despite work | Confirm that forms in the zone are assigned and contain required fields |
Collection not visible on map | Refresh the page or zoom to the area where it was created |
Assets missing from zone | Recheck the drawn area — only assets within boundary are included |
