Overview

Starting your first project in Oriyent is quick and intuitive. In just a few steps, you’ll have a fully functional environment where you can create forms, import your asset data, and visualize real-time inspection progress through Oriyent’s GIS-powered map interface.

Whether you’re managing airport lighting, utility networks, or any other infrastructure, setting up a project lays the foundation for all asset inspections and documentation tracking.

What You’ll Need

  • An Oriyent account (Creator plan recommended)

  • A project name

  • Optional: a CSV or Excel file of your asset data

  • A form template (or be ready to create one)

Create Your First Project

  1. Log into your Oriyent account

  2. On the dashboard, click the project dropdown (top-left)

  3. Click “+ New Project”

  4. Enter a name for your project (e.g., Kuala Lumpur Runway Upgrade)

  5. Click Create

You’ll be automatically taken into your new project workspace.

Tip: Use clear project names to help your team easily identify what it’s for, especially if you manage multiple jobs.

Add or Create a Template

Templates are inspection forms you’ll assign to assets later.

  1. Navigate to the Template Designer tab

  2. Click “+ New Template”

  3. Give your form a name (e.g., Lighting Inspection – Phase 1)

  4. Add fields such as:

    • Static text

    • Yes/No

    • Lists

    • Numbers

    • Attachments (e.g. reference manuals)

  5. Toggle options like Required, Timestamp, and Location

Save your template. You can always come back and edit it later.

Import Your Asset Data

To link inspections to real-world assets:

  1. Go to the Data tab

  2. Click “+ New Data Group”

  3. Name your data group (e.g., Runway 1 Assets)

  4. Click Import Data

  5. Upload a .csv or .xlsx file or connect via OneDrive

  6. Map headers like Asset ID, Latitude, Longitude, etc.

Once imported, your asset list is ready to work with.

Assign a Template to Your Assets

  1. Select the assets (individually or using bulk select)

  2. Click “Assign Forms”

  3. Choose the template you created earlier

  4. Click Assign

Forms are now linked to each asset for inspection tracking.

View Progress on the Map

  1. Go to the Map tab

  2. View assets plotted on the map based on latitude/longitude

  3. Color coding indicates form progress:

    • 🔴 Not started

    • 🟡 In progress

    • 🟢 Complete

You can create Collections by drawing boundaries to group and monitor zones independently.

What Happens Next?

After setting up your first project:

  • Your team can begin filling out forms

  • Assets can be accessed via QR codes

  • You can monitor inspection status in real time

  • Collections help break down progress by area or task

  • More templates and data groups can be added as the project evolves
