Overview

Oriyent gives you control over who can view, edit, and manage project data through clearly defined user roles. Combined with your subscription plan, these roles help ensure security, compliance, and workflow efficiency.

This guide explains what each user role can do, and how Oriyent’s current and upcoming plans (Creator and Team) shape that access.

What You’ll Need

  • An Oriyent account

  • Project Owner or Administrator access to invite/manage users

  • Understanding of your team’s access needs (field work vs project setup)

User Roles

Owner

  • Full access to all features and settings

  • Controls billing, user invites, and organisation-wide configurations

  • Can assign or transfer ownership to others

Administrator

  • Can create/edit templates, import data, assign forms, and manage users

  • Cannot manage billing unless also designated as Owner

  • Typically leads project setup and configuration

Collaborator

  • Can fill out forms, view maps, and interact with assigned assets

  • Cannot edit templates, import data, or manage project settings

  • Ideal for technical users or team leads in the field

Observer

  • Read-only access to maps, form progress, and dashboards

  • Cannot fill out forms or make any edits

  • Perfect for stakeholders, auditors, or compliance reviewers

Subscription Plans

Creator Plan

  • Full access to Oriyent’s web and mobile platforms

  • Required for users managing data, templates, and asset assignments

  • Best suited for Owners, Admins, and Collaborators working across tools

Team Plan (Coming Soon)

  • Mobile-only access for field users

  • Enables on-site inspections, QR scanning, and offline submission

  • Suited for Collaborators focused only on fieldwork

  • Observers do not require a paid seat under this plan

Managing Access

  • Invite users from the Users tab within a project

  • Select a role and plan for each user when adding them

  • Roles can be updated at any time

  • Users may hold different roles in different projects

What Happens Next?

Once roles are assigned:

  • Owners/Admins configure projects and manage teams

  • Collaborators access forms, complete inspections, and sync data

  • Observers monitor status without making changes

  • Mobile users will be directed to the Oriyent app once Team Plan launches

Troubleshooting Tips

Issue

Solution

User can’t edit data/templates

Ensure they are set as an Admin or Collaborator

User sees read-only content

They are likely assigned as an Observer

Plan limit reached

Check subscription tier or contact support

User can’t access dashboard

Confirm they’re not on a mobile-only (Team) plan
